As many of you know, for the last 8 months, I have been assisting my friend and colleague, Nathan Trice, with a project that has been in development for several years.
Strange Love is a vocal, theatrical, movement experience that explores the messy yet witty, sexy appearances and underlying architecture of courtship, intimacy and love. Accompanied by a Jazz Trio, the work combines theatrical dance, movement monologues, video-projection and photography with dancer/singers performing vocal renditions of jazz legends, John Coltrane & Miles Davis music.
This will be the second installment of the seven-month performance installation series of Strange Love: EPISODES at FreeCandy, a new and vibrant arts space in Brooklyn, NY. Click to see the post about Episode 1.
I have been working with him as a graphic designer and arts administrator – designing postcards, posters, flyers, programs, business cards, and online identity for the project, as well as, booking rehearsal and performance space, negotiating with vendors, and building audience via social media networks and increasing online presence.
I hope you will take a moment to read more about the project and be inspired to get involved, donate, or if you live near NYC, come see the show!
